About SIP

The School Insurance Program is a not-for-profit organization that manages all aspects of property and casualty-related insurance for the school boards of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).

The School Insurance Program comprises:

• The Nova Scotia School Insurance Exchange, which is an insurance reciprocal licenced by the Superintendent of Insurance for the Province of Nova Scotia. The Exchange provides insurance coverage and manages claims on behalf of its Subscribers (school boards and the NSCC).
• The Nova Scotia School Insurance Program Association, which is the attorney-in-fact for the Exchange. The Association provides staff and facilities to operate the Exchange.
